THE HISTORY THAT SURROUNDS YOU:
THE FALL OF ROME:
It is the Year, 51 BC and Rome is beset upon by an outbreak of the Blood Flux. The streets of Rome are littered with Bodies with no one to attend them. The Urbanus is overrun by frightened and angry Mobs. The Senators have fled the city with their families and personal guards, running from their respective homes and Provence’s, leaving Rome vacant and to its own devices. Reports of the Gods’ Ire return via runners. The City burns, by day and by night … no building is immune. The Gods have surely abandoned the city of Rome, punishing all who remain.
TODAY:
Almost exactly a year after the fall of the capital of the Republic, Caesar has brought the Gallic war to its end and released his men from their service and he himself, lays down his arms as the law dictates. But without Rome, a new home for leading the great Empire of Rome was needed and so, Ceasar heads to the city of Capua in the Region known best for its excellence in Gladiatorial training and games, Campania. The Senate had already been ordered to journey to this new center of the Roman Empire, meeting him here to decide the fate of the Former Capital of the Republic.
OUR SISTER CITY, CAPUA:
The City of Capua has known only growth since the fall of the Capital. Senators taking shelter within, spend money to see it raised in stature. Games and Festivals have been thrown for weeks on end to appease the Gods and ease the minds of the people.
Capua has Risen to Gain its place among the shining jewels of Rome and threatens to over take many. Its streets are filled with citizens of every rank, job, and background. Its ports are filled with ships for every corner of the Republic and merchants sell everything from cheap wine to the best dresses. This is surely a sign that the people of the Republic have been forgiven by the Gods and found their way back into the Gods’ good graces.
The Senate is ordered to Convene to decide what to do about the fallen Capital. Many believe the city of Rome to now be cursed and believe anyone who enters will too be cursed and soon to die. Many Senators (NPC’s) have been heard openly refusing to return to the City.
CASILINUM (WHERE WE LIVE):
A suburb, if you will, of the great city of Capua, Casilinum surrounds the adjoining river through which it shares shipping trade with the larger new center of the Republic. But Capua has turned its eyes on its smaller yet resource wealthy sister city. Trade, Gladiatorial games and business abound between the two while political posturing swells, threatening to consume them both in the willful pursuits of power of the individuals in political control.
Here resides the new home of the Arillius Ludus, former house that brought about Champions in Rome under another name (the original owner in hiding from Rome), run by Managing Lanista, Nero Cerberus in the stead of Valeria Arillius. This Ludus is an integral part of the economy of the town.
The Millery and Vinyard provide valuable trade products to Capua and wealth for Casilinum. Our merchants trade actively with those in Capua for both supplies and their final products.
